As part of the festivities that will erupt in 2013 surrounding the 400th anniversary of the Grachtengordel (canal belt), Benz has designed Pop-up posts produced from recycled crane elements. These can be stacked on top of each other in order to create an observation post that fits exactly within a parking space. During the 400 year Grachtengordel anniversary celebrations the posts can be placed along the canals within the city limits of 1613 (Singel). Following the celebrations they will be relocated to the current city limits of Amsterdam. Regarding the purpose of the Pop-up posts, Benz explains: "The Pop-up posts serve as platforms to escape the density of the town and also allow one to observe the canal from an interesting perspective."
